Laura M. Parro

PhD on Geology 

I was born in Madrid in 1991. I obtained a Geology Degree in 2013, a Master on Geologic Processes and Resources in 2014 and a PhD in Geology (2020) in the Complutense University of Madrid. As an expert on Planetary Geology I have carried out research on the crust and dynamics of Mars and on other bodies of the Solar System including satellites, dwarf planets and small bodies. Currently, I am working at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory of the University of Arizona. I am passionate about space and since I was a kid I have dreamed of being an astronaut -in fact, I was formally selected as a candidate by the ESA astronaut selection program in 2021. In parallel to my research I am involved in outreach and science transfer in multiple formats.

Hobby: travelling around the world, sports (specially karate, trekking and paddle), going to theme parks and modern board games.
