In 1960, Ray Bradbury published this collection of independent stories, but with the same context: the arrival and colonization of the planet Mars by humans, their attempt to adapt, their clash with Martian civilization, and finally, their failure to make Mars a better place than Earth.
Without placing too much emphasis on scientific and technological aspects, Bradbury uses the red planet to talk mainly about the American society of the time and universal themes, such as loneliness, war, racism and the human impulse to self-destruct.
It is one of the classic works of 20th century science fiction. The stories are surreal, dark, evocative and highly poetic. One of the fundamental books in the oeuvre of the creator of «Fahrenheit 451» and «The Illustrated Man«
