Marvin the Martian – Chuck Jones

Marvin the Martian is a character from Mars who is part of the Warner Bros. cartoons: Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies. He first appeared as an antagonist in the 1948 Bugs Bunny cartoon Haredevil Hare.

He was created by animator Chuck M. Jones as a quiet character, but whose actions are very destructive and dangerous.

Marvin’s design is based on Mars, the God of War. He has a helmet that hides his face and a skirt. Red clothes and big white trainers and like many classic cartoons of the time he has white gloves.

Marvin usually wants to destroy the Earth, often for reasons as logical as getting a better view of Venus, though at other times he just wants to kidnap Earthlings.

Among his weapons is a dangerous gun that turns the victim into a prehistoric version of himself. Despite this, he is the calmest, quietest and most polite of the Looney Toon villains, as part of the vision of a Martian civilisation more evolved and rational than the Earth’s.

His voice was voiced for some time by the legendary Mel Blanc, and he has appeared in numerous video games and the legendary film «Space Jam».
